Mission
EBF unites and represents European banks with the purpose of contributing to a better, stronger and more resilient Europe. Our ultimate objective is to help create the conditions to better finance and enable the prosperity, security, digitalization and sustainability of European businesses and families.
We fulfill our purpose by leveraging and coordinating our European network of members and associate members in order to:
be a knowledgeable, trusted partner for European policymakers and supervisors
foster and lead dialogue and cooperation amongst all stakeholders, in Europe and in international fora
develop and share knowledge, expertise and best practices
educate European citizens on financial health and literacy including long-term investing, digital finance and protection from cyber risks and online fraud.
Vision
The financial needs of Europe will continue increasing rapidly over the next years in order to finance, among others, its security, competitiveness, digitalization and energy transition. European banks aim to increase their contribution to financing these important EU objectives.
To make that happen, the EBF will operate as a bridge-builder between policy makers, stakeholders and banks, encouraging cooperation, alignment and timely solutions across the value chain. By 2030, this should result in:
- an increased contribution of European banks to fill the gap of Europe’s investment needs,
- a simplified, streamlined framework of banking regulation and supervision that strikes a proper balance between stability, consumer protection and competitiveness,
- increased participation by companies and households in EU financial markets, turning Europe's savings into Europe's growth
broader and more secure use of innovative technology for financial services by European banks, businesses and families, - a regulatory and supervisory environment that enables banks to ensure digital operational resilience in an increasingly interconnected and evolving ecosystem.
And, overall, a strong banking sector that plays a decisive role in safeguarding Europe’s competitiveness, resilience and strength in a quickly evolving world.
